![]() Hotel Sai Nivas is a seventeenth century mansion or haveli which is conveniently located in the heart of the old city in Udaipur. Lying on top of the ridge adjacent to the magnificent City Palace, it commands breathtaking views of Lake Pichola and overlooks the famous Lake Palace. From the roof terrace one can also observe spectacular desert sunsets over the austerely beautiful Arvali Mountains to the west. Positioned well away from the congestion of the busy streets, Hotel Sai Nivas is a welcome retreat from the hustle and bustle of the surrounding city. The Sai Nivas haveli was originally built three hundred and fifty years ago by the Chauhan Rajputs. However, when princely rule in India was abolished in the mid-1900's, the haveli was abandoned and it fell into decay. The present owner, retired Wing Commander S.K. Singh and his sons decided to renovate the ancestral property and return it to its former glory and through a full scale reconstruction project, the building was brought up to date, wired for electricity and installed with modern plumbing. The restoration work was undertaken with sensitivity and the greatest of care was taken in order to retain the haveli's old world charm and grandeur.
To add to your experience is a peaceful open-air restaurant inside the haveli, specializing in mouth watering non-vegetarian entrees, all of which are prepared to the highest standards. Most guests describe the feeling here as a unique and personable experience when compared to a standard hotel. They all agree that the owner and his sons show a level of hospitality that is all but forgotten in today's day and age. Tours of popular and hidden areas of Udaipur can be arranged at the hotel. We also organise desert and jeep safaris to the desert around Jaisalmer and also trips into the remote interior of Rajasthan. Please feel free to look around at the various hotel rooms, dining area, lounge and some of the owner's original paintings. Contact the hotel for any further questions. Enjoy and hope to see you soon.
